Centre of Excellence in Genomics, Biotechnology and Quality of Animal Products in Sustainable Production Systems with consideration of Animal Welfare
The Centre is financed by the 7th Framework Programme for research and technological development of the European Union within the Research Potential theme. The project is realised in the years 2009-2012.
The main aims of the project are: to unlock and develop the long-term research potential of the Centre and strengthen the capacities of the Centre’s researchers to participate successfully in research activities at the European level, as well as to create strategic partnerships with EU renowned research institutions.
Research focus of the Centre: animal breeding and genetics, sustainable animal production systems, quality of food of animal origin, animal welfare, functional genomics, reproductive biology, biotechnology, nutrigenomics, development of basic tools and technologies, including: transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics.
